Oh, For A Hobbit House

If you’ve ever wanted to live in a house with an organic shape and lots of nat­ural light, if your mind wan­ders to lit­tle houses in the woods, if you some­day want to try the back-to-nature lifestyle — take a look at what pho­tog­ra­pher Simon Dale and his fam­ily, and oth­ers like them, have been able to accomplish.

The family’s starter house was built largely of oak logs and straw bales, floored with reclaimed wooden crate tops, and fin­ished with lime plas­ter. Solar power is used for “light­ing, music and com­put­ing.” I like those pri­or­i­ties! The house’s loca­tion in Wales makes a nat­u­rally cooled fridge practical.
