Wayfaring Stranger has always been one of my favorite songs. So it’s no surprise that when it came to choosing a name for a personal blog, I would look for a phrase that describes my life as a journey.

Sharra is not my real name, but is close enough. I left my name with a restaurant greeter one evening as I was there with some of my family for dinner, and was called by this name instead of my own. As I want to record music some day, I immediately thought, “Wow! That would make a great stage name!” I have since decided stage names don’t work for me and I need to stay with the real thing even if some people have trouble spelling it. Online, however, this new name serves as a shortcut. Who I am will be no great secret but “sharra” will be my user name for these writings.

From the song name above you already know that I love old gospel music. I also enjoy a variety of rock, folk and world music, usually with a blues tinge. I love to read — nothing highly literary, just good stories and well-researched nonfiction in fields that interest me. I often look for opportunities to share music, books, events and new thoughts with friends and family. This will be a way of extending that sharing to others who may have like interests. Join me, if you will, as I find new joys and ideas on my way through.
